Kett Engineering, a 57 year old automotive testing company, is seeking an entry-level automotive tech to work at our customer’s proving ground just outside of Mojave, CA in California City. The ideal candidate is someone recently out of trade school in automotive technology. This is a full-time position with full benefits after a 90 day probation period. The starting pay is $11.50/hr.

Job Summary:

Perform basic mechanical and/or electrical builds, test and repair work on experimental or prototype products, components and equipment following established standards, specifications, and instructions. Work independently, under general guidance from supervision and/or customers. Work duties involve a definite degree of skill, accuracy and coordination.

Essential Functions:

1. Perform basic mechanical and/or electrical repair on product components or series of components
2. Install, operate and maintain shop or laboratory test equipment and instrumentation
3. Maintain records on work performed
4. Ride check automobiles and/or trucks with automatic and manual transmissions
5. Maintain good housekeeping, safety practices, and supplies
6. Tools are not required

Key Responsibilities:

• Familiarity with mechanical and/or electrical concepts
• Basic knowledge in use of automotive shop equipment
• Ability to read engineering drawings preferred
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Interpersonal skills to work effectively with the team
• Promote safety awareness and assures compliance with safety practices and contributes to a positive team effort
• Recognize and operate within the scope of Kett’s Vision and Values

Job Requirements:

Education: Associates degree in automotive technology or a combination of education and on-the-job work experience including two years working specifically in automotive repair. Documented training may include company sponsored or military programs.

Skills/Experience: Must possess a valid drivers license. Literate in Word and Excel. Good verbal and written communication skills are a priority.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Job requires walking, standing, lifting, and bending for approximately 6 – 8 hours on a daily basis.
